Zahra Hosaneea is a barrister-at-law in Mauritius and a passionate advocate for disability rights. She is the co-founder and president of the Youth with Disabilities Empowerment Platform (YWDEP), a non-profit organization committed to empowering young persons with disabilities through skills training and entrepreneurship in Mauritius.
Zahra has presented at several international conferences, including the World Disability and Rehabilitation Conference (WDRC) and the World Down Syndrome Congress. Her work focuses on disability rights, legislative reform, accessible justice, community-based inclusive development, and the implementation of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD).
She has authored papers on the role of legal frameworks in promoting inclusion and disability rights. Her advocacy work centres on bridging the gap between legal frameworks and lived experiences of persons with disabilities, with a particular interest in the CRPD and inclusive legislative reforms.
Zahra continues to work at the intersection of law and social justice, striving to build a more accessible and equitable world for all.
